The Troubled Heart of Africa: A History of the Congo

Post  Admin on Thu Jan 22, 2009 7:05 pm

by Robert B Edgerton.

a very troubling book, I must say. Gave me some very sleepless nights and a horrible sense of despair.

The opening sentence: "The Congo that so horrified Joseph Conrad...."

Horrified also describes much of my reaction to some of the things I found in this book.

Lord have mercy. Sad

Can light ever pierce through to this region and others like it. At times I felt like I was reading about nazi concentration camps.
